John 16:23, 24
“And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, I say unto you, if you ask anything of the Father, He will give it to you in My Name. Until now you have asked nothing in My name; ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be made full.“
“If you ask anything of the Father in My Name.” There are a few keys here that we need to look at. Firstly the word ‘ask’ should be used in the context where it is in line with the Word, He then says that your second ‘asking’ is not to Me but to the Father because your fellowship with the Father is intimate because you’re abiding in Him. Then when you ask the Father in the Name of Jesus, everything that Name represents in heaven (as the meditator but also as the Son of the highest) is yours or belongs to you. But we need to take ownership of that name in prayer, we need to know what that name means and understand our authority in the heavens, on earth and under the earth! Philippians 3:10, “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.” I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death. To know the name is to know the person in the Name. Many times in the Gospels the devils knew that name, in Acts the demons knew the dominion and anointing of and in that Name – Acts 19:15, “But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?”
Look what 1 John says in chapter 1, it explains something special in verse 3 – “That which we have seen and heard we declare also to you, that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed the fellowship which is ours is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” The joy of fellowship brings intimacy and communion. If you have lost your joy, you have lost your fellowship with that the One who holds the Name. 1 John 1:9 says, ‘If we confess our sins out of fellowship (sin simply means that we have come short) He (Holy Spirit) restores us back into joy!
Silver and gold, we do not have but we have THE NAME OF JESUS, and every knee that has a name will bow to that Name! I remember as a child I would ask in ‘Jesus Name and amen’ but nothing happened and I grew despondent because I thought I was sincere in my prayer. As the revelation of that Name grew in the knowledge of the Word, I got bolder with more confidence coming to the throne room because that Name belongs to me and now I am seated at the right hand of prayer. I am not praying up to heaven trying to touch heaven anymore, instead I am praying from my righteous position of my seating in Christ in my heavenly position of dominion and rulership. I can only rule from that position if I know my authority in Jesus.
Do you know your authority in prayer?
Thank you Lord. For I am raised with Him and seated together with Him in the heavenly places far above all principalities.
