The key to the OPEN DOOR

Scripture Reference Devotional

Open doors of divine blessing for opportunities and provision.

When we walk through these open doors, we receive divine riches that He has prepared because of our inheritance in Christ – Jesus is the one who opens these doors for us.
Jesus told John in Revelation 3:8 (to the church of Philadelphia) that there is a door that no man could open or shut. The Spirit is speaking to the church saying – HE THAT OPENETH IS HE THAT IS HOLY, HE THAT IS TRUE. Jesus is the one that qualifies as the One who opens the door because of His character, it reflects His nature. There is no fault found in Him by God, man, or the devil – He is TRUE.

The Father spoke of Him as the One IN WHOM I AM PLEASED. God spoke out of the Glory cloud saying, “Hear ye Him!” – Mark 12:13-17. He is True.
The Sadducee’s tried to ‘confuse’ and ‘catch’ Him out with their questions and remarks, because Jesus spoke with wisdom and authority, there was no fault nor flaw that could be found in Him – Mark 12:18-2. The Religious leaders tried to do the exact same thing in Mark 11:27-29, 33 by asking Jesus “By what authority doest though do these things? And by whom?”
Satan himself could not find any fault in Jesus, in Matthew 4 Jesus said, “it is written.” – He rebuked the enemy with the Word! In Matthew 4:4, 7, 10 satan took Jesus to a high mountain and told Him, “if you fall down and worship me, I will give you the kingdoms of the world with all its glory.” Then Jesus replied saying, “You will worship God only and serve Him.”
Why am I refering to all of these scriptures? To show you the authority and character of Jesus.

Jesus’ character is faithful and true. Revelation 19 says that, “He that sits on the throne is called faithful and true.” In Revelation 3:14 we see that Jesus is called the “Faithful and true witness.” He is the True, honest, steadfast, honourable, just, righteous and faithful one to carry out the Fathers will. Him alone.

In Isaiah 22:22 it says, “And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulders, so He shall open, and none shall shut; and He shall shut and none shall open.” Jesus has the keys of David, which is power and authority – He alone shall open. God had made a covenant with David, promising that a descendant of David would come and always sit on the throne of the house of Israel which was fulfilled in the coming of Jesus.

Jeremiah 33:17, 20, 21 – “David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; of His Kingdom there shall be no end.” We see in Luke 1:30-33 that Jesus would be given the key of Jacob at birth; this implies the royal power and authority of the Davidic kingdom.
The New Testament reveals this power and authority to us is in the risen Christ. Jesus’s ultimate calling and ministry was to reign in the house of David, to reign supernaturally as the Lord.

The Book of Acts confirms that Jesus sits on the throne of David to rule over His people. We see that He would raise Christ up to sit on his throne in Acts 2:29, 30, 34-36, “Lord said unto my lord, sit thou at My right hand until I make thy feet thy footstool..” God made that same Jesus, He made Him both Lord and Christ. In ancient Eastern countries, keys were sometimes carried over the shoulders as a symbol of power and authority.

The government and authority is under Jesus’ dominion, and this is upon His shoulders. Isaiah 9:6 says, “The government shall be upon His shoulder His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

I Corinthians 15:24 says, “Then comes to end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.” Jesus literally brought this to pass because it was prophesied that He was to rule and reign forever and ever, fulfilling the Davidic covenant.
The Key of David (Jesus), and His kingdom has no end.

Luke 1:32, 33 tells us that God has given Him the throne of David, which will reign forever! Jesus has the authority to shut doors that no man can shut – Jesus has authority that no man possesses. The key, like a mantle, rests on Jesus’ shoulders – it is the anointing, the Glory! The power and authority to give access to God and His Fullness and He is Jesus the mediator.

Revelations 1:17-18 says, “..Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living One. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and hades.”

We also see in Colossians 2:15, “Then Jesus made a public spectacle of all powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us.”

In Ephesians 4:8, 9 and Matthew 28:18 it talks about all the power that is given unto Me
(Jesus) in heaven and on earth.

Revelation 5:12 John tells us that Jesus is the Lamb, the only Man who is worthy to open the sealed scroll. No man in heaven, in the earth or under the earth was able to open the book, not even look thereon. No man was found Worthy to open and read the book, for it says, “Behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the Book.” The sacred character and ministry of Jesus is that He alone is Holy and True. The Key of David. Are you seeing the connection, the revelation of Who and where the open door comes from?

Jesus tells us in John 10:9, “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.” The One who opens the door, opens it to green pastures, to freedom, to life forevermore. We have the choice, we are the only ones who can turn away from Christ and shut the door of God’s blessings on our lives, because of lack of understanding or disobedience in our lives.

Whatever I need, the Lord will send it; if I need healing, He will send it. If I need provision, He has already made a way for me. ALL of God’s provision is not only in but it also is The open door. We see it again in Ephesians 1:3, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” All spiritual blessings belong to us because of The One who holds the key, we are united with Him. So now it is our responsibility to choose life or death, blessing or cursing, or whether we make the decision to keep the door shut or allow Him to open it. In Joshua 24:15 it talks about your decision to choose to serve the Lord, or the gods of your ancestors. You have a choice – It is your choice to go through the door. We play our part and that is to receive! Wouldn’t it be sad to end our life’s journey just to have never enjoyed God’s promises or provision, and never stepping through that OPEN DOOR?

Choose now, and choose to walk through the open door to receive all that God has for you.

Blessing,
