Bible Text: God’s love never fails because love never stops loving. – 1 Corinthians 13:8
Central Truth: Prayer starts with a loving relationship with your heavenly Father which makes your prayer life a sweet fellowship of glory.
For me to understand how love can never to fail, I first have to understand the love that God has for me which will never fail. Love begins with spending time in our relationship to understand how love thinks and then fellowship with that kind of love to change me, and then live that change out in my prayer life.
So many prayer people want to change others through prayer, but their lives do not reflect their own transformation. When I see others through the eyes of love and compassion, I see them through the heart of God. And the heart of God always responds in love to bring change.
One day after prayer, a lady came to me and asked me to cast the devil out of her husband as he does not want to change. The real problem here is not the husband unwilling to change, but the wife as she needed to deal with selfishness and a carnal mindset because she needed the change. Many times, we deal with our carnal, unredeemed fleshly nature, and it will always focus on self – “What do I want?”
I told the lady that the problem is with her and not with her husband. Sad to say that I did not see her again. When God’s love works in us, we see the hurt, the pain, and the destruction. The God kind of love is the answer to minister that love to a hurting world. Never be moved by pity or a need, but be led by love, which will answer the need of humanity. I can only allow love to flow through me when I have a revelation of how much my Father loves me.
Many believers tell me how much they love God and that’s all that they need. But then I ask them how much they love His Word. Love is like a river and the Word gives it direction to flow with purpose through the Spirit that guides it in truth. That love will never fail!
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, he who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will manifest Myself in Him. The greatest display of Love is obedience. Jesus said if you love Me obey Me.” – John 14:21
I cannot base my love on a feeling when I pray. I base it on being led by the Spirit because that love is poured out like a waterfall through the Spirit, and that is a continual flow that guides me. Walking in and out of love all the time can be a sign of an immature believer. Love is fellowshipping with Love (in other words, God, because He is Love) to become like Love. That is like breathing, and I cannot stop breathing otherwise I will die. I must continually seek Him, desire Him, hunger for more of Him.
Once you have tasted His love, His forgiveness, His mercy, His grace, and His Glory, His heart becomes one with your heart. I can only love God to the degree that I love myself and love my neighbour. Love gives me an identity because my Father is my identity and enables me to pray correctly out of heart of compassion for others.
One time at a prayer meeting, we started to pray in the Spirit, but my tongues were empty and sounded like hitting a gong. I asked the Lord why I felt this way. He spoke so clearly and said, “Unforgiveness in your heart just makes a sound, but it has no meaning.” As I forgave and searched my heart, and the anointing began to flow as answered truth, and His presence and prayer flowed like a river.
“And when you stand praying…forgive.” – Mark 11:25
Faith works out of the purpose of love to accomplish the will of God. When love works through faith, fear is cast out. The perfect example of the display of love is our Commander in Chief, Jesus Himself. If you want to see love in manifestation, look at Matthew 14:14. He was moved with compassion and healed their sick. He died because He loved. Compassion is love compounded so that it moves you to change the situation.
As we were interceding one night, I suddenly saw people tumbling into this massive hole of darkness. As the Spirit began to weep through me for the souls of the lost. I saw angels taking a massive net and covered this dark hole. As I prayed it began to become intense with my spiritual language shifting into groanings. And as people tumbled from darkness and hit the net, all bounced back from where they came. Hell was not made for men but for satan and his demons and fallen angels, but that gave me a glimpse to pray for lost souls out of eternal damnation back to earth to decide to accept Jesus. That is compassion and God’s love for the humanity He died for.
Love endures long and is patient and kind; love is never envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited arrogant and inflated with pride: it is not rude unmannerly and does not act unwelcomingly. God’s love in us does not insist on its own rights or always being right, it does not seek itself; it is not touchy or irritable or does not worry or resents; it does not hold a grudge and a wrong done it forgets, it is not glad when others hurt, but rejoices when right and truth overcomes. Love carries no wrong and forgives, it believes the best in others, and expects good always to happen, it does not weaken or fades out but endures in weakness to become strong – LOVE NEVER FAILS!
