Whatever I Bind – Whatever I Loose!

Whatever I Bind – Whatever I Loose!

Jesus said something remarkable about Himself:

“I can of Myself do nothing… I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.” (John 5:30)

This reveals that Jesus completely submitted to the Father’s desire and delighted in doing His will. He was, in essence, the authority of the Father on earth — representing Heaven’s government in human form.
As He explained:

“The words that I speak unto you, I speak not of Myself: but the Father that dwells in Me, He does the works.” (John 14:10)

So when Jesus spoke in Matthew 18:18–20, He spoke by that same divine authority — the authority of the Father, in covenant with His Word.

Heaven’s Covenant with Earth

The Bible is not just a book — it is God’s Word revealing Himself through Jesus, the living Word. Through the Blood of the Covenant, this Word is sealed, and the Holy Spirit bears witness to its truth. The Spirit’s presence on earth guarantees that every word spoken in faith will come to pass in the natural realm.

That’s why the Holy Spirit dwells in us — to confirm that we are children of God (Romans 8:16) and to enforce the covenant of the Word in our lives. When we believe in our hearts and speak with our mouths, the Spirit Himself is Heaven’s witness and guarantor of fulfillment.

Binding and Loosing – The Exercise of Divine Authority

When Jesus said,

“Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven,”
He was declaring that the believer acts as Heaven’s representative authority.

To bind means to put under obligation, deprive of authority, declare unlawful, and forbid.
To loose means to release, break up, destroy, overthrow, and declare lawful or permitted.

This power of binding and loosing is the covenantal authority of God operating through redeemed humanity — through the blood of Jesus. Because of that blood, we’ve been restored not only in the natural but also in the spiritual realm. The dominion that Adam lost has been fully restored through Christ, giving us a better covenant with better promises (Hebrews 8:6).

“Behold, I have given you authority and power…” (Luke 10:19)

The Power of Agreement

Whenever we come into agreement in prayer, we enter covenantal partnership with the Word of God. Agreement joins Heaven and earth together under divine promise. That’s why Jesus said:

“Where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

When we agree, God is in the midst — agreeing with His own Word, ensuring that His covenant comes to pass. He cannot deny Himself!

I’ve experienced this power firsthand. My father and I often operated in the gift of faith through the prayer of agreement. When we prayed together for someone, it was as if the answer came instantly — like receiving a heavenly package that only needed to be delivered. It was supernatural to witness how every answered prayer unfolded.

Agreement is vital — both parties must believe the same thing. If one person does not believe in healing, for instance, that prayer of agreement cannot function in full power. Jesus always brought people into agreement before the miracle:
“What do you want?”
“Take up your bed and walk.”
“Who touched Me?”
He came into harmony with their faith because He was in perfect harmony with the Father — a divine symphony where every note was perfectly aligned.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.” (John 15:7)

Agreeing with Heaven

We can agree with Heaven concerning every area of life — our nation, finances, family, friends, or any mountain that stands in our way.
When I bind the spirit of lies, I must also loose the spirit of truth to minister to my mind, will, and emotions — changing my thought patterns and aligning my soul with God’s will.

If my thoughts contradict the Word, I bind those thoughts, take them captive (as one would restrain a prisoner), and then loose them from my mind through repentance and renewal. I then fill my mind with the Word of God through meditation and remembrance, binding my thoughts to Scripture and loosing the mind of Christ to obey the Word.

Here’s how it works in practice:

  • I bind the spirit of apathy → I loose the spirit of revival and fire.
  • I bind hate → I loose love.
  • I bind poverty → I loose generosity and a giving anointing.
  • I bind resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness → I loose righteousness, joy, peace, and forgiveness in the Holy Spirit.

When we do this, the Holy Spirit begins to move — enforcing the covenant of agreement, bringing Heaven’s will into manifestation on earth.

The Weapons of Our Warfare

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;
casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:3–6

Our authority in Christ enables us to demolish every stronghold and thought pattern that stands against God’s truth. We bind what Heaven forbids, and we loose what Heaven permits — walking as covenant partners with God, in agreement with His Word, and empowered by His Spirit.

Final Thought

Whatever we bind or loose, whatever we agree upon in faith, must reflect Heaven’s decree. When our words harmonize with His Word, Heaven’s authority backs our declaration.
God is not a distant observer — He is right in the midst, watching over His covenant, ensuring it is fulfilled.

“He is agreeing with Himself.”
