Praying in The Spirit with All Kinds of Prayer!

Praying In The Spirit with All Kinds of Prayer!

For us to understand spiritual things God uses natural words to explain and teach the realm of the Spirit. Jesus said, if you have seen Me you have the ability to understand the Father [the spiritual realm]. Jesus is the complete embodiment of the Father!

(EMTV)  through every prayer and petition, praying in every season in the Spirit, being watchful to this same thing with all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints—

(ESV)  praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

(GW)  Pray in the Spirit in every situation. Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people.

Ephesians 6:18

always — Greek, “in every season”; implying opportunity and exigency (Col_4:2). Paul uses the very words of Jesus in Luk_21:36 (a Gospel which he quotes elsewhere, in undesigned accordance with the fact of Luke being his associate in travel, 1Co_11:23, etc.; 1Ti_5:18). Compare Luk_18:1; Rom_12:12; 1Th_5:17.

with all — that is, every kind of.

prayer — a sacred term for prayer in general.

supplication — a common term for a special kind of prayer [Harless], an imploring request. “Prayer” for obtaining blessings, “supplication” for averting evils which we fear [Grotius].

in the Spirit — to be joined with “praying.” It is he in us, as the Spirit of adoption, who prays and enables us to pray (Rom_8:15, Rom_8:26; Gal_4:6; Jud_1:20).

watching — not sleeping (Eph_5:14; Psa_88:13; Mat_26:41). So in the temple a perpetual watch was maintained (compare Anna, Luk_2:37).

thereunto — “watching unto” (with a view to) prayer and supplication.

with — Greek, “in.” Persevering constancy (“perseverance”) and (that is, exhibited in) supplication are to be the elements in which our watchfulness is to be exercised.

for all saints — as none is so perfect as not to need the intercessions of his fellow Christians.

In the Spirit – By the aid of the Holy Spirit; or perhaps it may mean that it is not to be the prayer of form merely, but when the spirit and the heart accompany it. The idea is that The Spirit takes the lead, and then what He speaks is the answer to the prayer!

And watching thereunto – Watching for opportunities to pray; watching for the spirit of prayer; watching against all those things which would hinder prayer; see the Mat_26:38, note, 41, note; compare 1Pe_4:7.

With all perseverance – Never becoming discouraged and disheartened; compare notes, Luk_18:1.

And supplication for all saints – For all Christians. We should do this:

It all starts in Verse 10 of Ephesians chapter 6 – Paul is writing from the standpoint of Being strong in the Lord and the power of His might! Then begins his introduction to putting on the whole armor of God! That you will successfully stand against all the plans schemes strategies of the devil. Our wrestling is not against flesh and humans we are contending or standing against the master spirit, world rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavens! We push back the darkness and enforce Jesus’s victory [Col. 2:14&15]. We are belted with truth around our loins, breastplate of righteousness, our feet carry the sandals of the Gospel tramping on the enemy with spikes of authority. Shield of faith resists the enemies and extinguishes all his darts. The helmet redeems our minds, will, and emotions. And the sword that you use is a double-edged short-stabbing dagger which is the Rhema instant live giving revelation that makes the Word alive and effective quick penetrating, enforcing Jesus’s finished redemption!

What Paul is saying now that you have put on the armour of God NOW YOU CAN PRAY! So, what does this mean for me as intercessor and prayer warrior? In our prayer meeting I heard this coming out of my mouth – Praying in the Spirit creates an atmosphere for prayer! When I pray out of my spirit, I release spiritual words that carry Dunamis power that creates a habitation for the Holy Spirit to manifest Himself in a place where He is welcome. In that atmosphere, words are released that create faith, so that those words bring to pass the will of God. When praying out of my spirit by the Holy Spirit I am been led by the Spirit when I pray. I pray generally in the Spirit for different situations, then I go into petition which is a more specific prayer I aim like an arrow. I hit my target perfectly every time. Praying in the Spirit is Praying a perfect-willed Prayer. Then something happens I have divine utterances I then with effectiveness have fervency in my voice, and it is as Rivers of Living water begin to flow out of my inner man [James 5:16, John 7:37-39].  I begin to release divine untold mysteries of Christ that begin to work, and manifest in the saints for those that desire the will of Christ, that gives them boldness to utter the mysteries of the Christ to give them a sincere heart of Love! The manifold or the different kinds of wisdom is manifested as we pray and it is made known to rulers and authorities in the heavenlies to satan and his cohorts that all their plans and schemes are brought to naught [2 Cor. 2:14]. But so are orders, instructions, assignments, God’s will plan, and purposes given to the Angelic hosts to bring into fulness Christ and His Glory. This revelation of Christ is satan’s defeat and the gates of hell shall not prevail against us the true church that carry the Glory [1 Cor. 2:6-9, Matt. 16:18-20]!
