Do Not Grieve The Holy Spirit!

Do Not Grieve The Holy Spirit!

Ephesians 4:29-32 AMPC
[29]  Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it. [30]  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin). [31]  Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, hatred) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or profane language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). [32]  And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tender-hearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.

When we as Bible teachers come to certain scriptures, we have to teach the reality of truth to make a mark in the Spirit, so that we can walk in revelation and be more effective in our prayer life! To grieve the Holy Spirit is a serious matter. It means we have not surrendered to His Lordship over our lives. We must walk in the Holy Spirit to have order in our lives! For me as a minister of the Gospel, is not to grieve Him but to be so sensitive to His leading that I walk in the fear of the Lord accurately hearing and obeying! Allowing the anointing which is truth to lead me!

What does it mean FOUL AND POLLUTING LANGUAGE?

Unsavory speech, insult, foul, inappropriate, foolish take, light and frothy language, filthy, unprofitable, noxious, nausea, lies, worthless, offensive, lies, words are so worthless that become corrupt! Words that contaminate like a rotten apple. Obscene words that do not carry character!

Its importance will be seen from the “influence” of such corrupt communications. “The passage of an impure thought through the mind leaves pollution behind it;” the expression of such a thought deepens the pollution on the soul, and corrupts others. It is like retaining an offensive carcase above ground, to pollute the air, and to diffuse pestilence and death, which should at once be buried out of sight. A Christian our words edify and build up in our conversation. If I associate with corrupt morals, and carnality it effects my thoughts and attitude. Ps 1 warns us to have our minds renewed that will that we will not sit in the seat of the scornfull!

The precious Holy Spirit represents Jesus, and it means to grieve the Holy Spirit is to grieve Jesus who wants us to think and speak like He speaks Phil. 4:8 THINK ON THESE THINGS that are honorable, just, pure, holy, lovely, and a good report! And say what the Word says!

When we speak of edification, we speak of building a spiritual house for faith to inhabit for the increase and to receive all the promises that are like bricks that build a place of habitation of the Glory for the advancement of the Kingdom!

Eph. 4:29 – That which is GOOD, BUILDING UP, MINISTER GRACE TO THE HEARERS

Good –  upright, honorable, agreeable

Edifying – it is like an architect building a structure, to put in what is lacking, “for the edification of faith” but that which is good for the use of edifying: or “for edification”, as the Syriac version renders it; the Arabic version reads, “for the edification of all”; that is, that hear; and the Vulgate Latin version and Claromontane exemplar: for the building up of saints on their most holy faith, and for the encouragement and increase of the grace of faith: in the Greek text it is literally, “for the edification of use”; for useful edification, or what is useful for edification; and is suited to the present want or opportunity, as the word is by some rendered: and that must be “good”, which answers such an end; meaning not that the language should be formally and grammatically good, though to speak with propriety is useful and serviceable, and tends the more to instruction and edification; but that which is materially good, or the subject of it is good; that which is true, pure, pleasant, and profitable:

Minister grace to hearers – to permit and endue to benefit and increase.

Eph. 4:30 – GRIEVE the Holy Spirit, SEALED unto redemption

Grieve – sadden, displease, offend, insult

Sealed – to mark with a seal or a person, to conceal to hide,to secure against satan

Eph. 4:31 – Let all BITTERNES, WRATH, ANGER, CLAMOUR, EVIL SPEAKING, MALICE be removed from you.

Bitterness – extreme wickedness, bitter root bitter fruit bitter hatred

Wrath – passion of anger boiling up and subsiding

Anger – temper violent emotion a rage

Clamour – an outcry of grief

Evil speaking – slanderous speech, to reproach

Malice – desire to injure, wickedness that is not ashamed to break laws

Eph. 4:32 – Be KIND, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING as Christ FORGAVE you

Kind – pleasant

Tender-hearted – compassionate, loving hearted

Forgiving – reality and freely as God in Christ forgave you do something pleasant or agreeable (to one) to pardon to preserve one in peril

We must consider and take into account that our thinking affects our words and behavior. We must do what the Word says we must do. We must examine our ways so that we walk in the right paths. Are we doing what the Word desires of us? Are we taking thoughts captive [2 Cor. 10:3-7]. As a man thinks, so is he [Prov. 23:7]. Are you putting a guard before our mouth? Having your mind renewed is a condition of protecting your thoughts and words [Rom. 12:2-3, Ps. 1]. When I walk and live in the Spirit, and from the inside out, I set myself in a position of walking and living according to His will and purpose, and it brings my mouth into subjection to speak the Word [Gal. 5:16, 25]. Thinking the thoughts of the Holy Spirit brings you into a place of obedience, and to say ONLY WHAT HE WANTS ME TO SPEAK! And if I grieve the precious SPIRIT, I MUST ASK FOR FORGIVENESS AND CONFESS MY SIN AND REPENT!

If you are not sensitive to the Spirit you would not know if I were grieving Him, you would think everything is normal as a believer! I know of times when I have grieved Him by saying things that were out of order. And immediately I knew on the inside of me I had an inward check, I felt grieved out of order as if I hurt someone. You have disobeyed God!  Like in an instant, you stopped a river flowing! I instantly repented and asked Him to forgive me but also intreated Him to Help me never do that again! Our walk with the Lord must be circumspect and in Holy reverence. I am not trying to live a sinless life; I want to live a sin less life! I CAN ONLY PLEASE HIM WHEN I AM IN FAITH SPEAKING LIFE-FILLED WORDS! I am not a natural being I AM A SUPER-NATURAL SPIRIT BEEN JUST LIKE GOD! JESUS SAID MY WORDS ARE SPIRIT AND LIFE!
